Vivo finally announces the optical fingerprint scanner tech.

After leaked video which showed us the demo of the under screen fingerprint scanner, now Vivo has officially announced it in MWC Shanghai yesterday. As we all know that Samsung and Apple are struggling to implement this feature in their next flagship devices but are failing it due to display issue or some due to lack of spare parts, but finally Vivo will be the World’s first company to announce such tech and implement successfully on a smartphone. Here is the demo for the same.

The under screen fingerprint scanner tech is developed by Qualcomm as a successor to Ultrasonic Fingerprint scanner which was unveiled last year.Vivo is the fist company to introduce the under display fingerprint tech with the prototype of an upcoming modified version of Vivo XPlay 6.Te fingerprint scanner is located 1.2 mm beneath the OLED display. The fingerprint scanner uses new updated version of the Qualcomm Ultrasonic tech that sends pulse through the finger, some of which will be absorbed and some will be reflected. This vibration detected by the sensor which builds up the fingerprint.

The fingerprint has the capability of penetrating under 0.8mm glass and 0.525 mm under metal which is a huge improvement over the capacitive fingerprint scanner. It can be accessible under wet hands or dust which was not possible with a capacitive fingerprint scanner.

Qualcomm new Ultrasonic fingerprint tech will ship in two forms. One with Glass and Metal will start to ship later this month and will be only compatible devices with SD660 or SD630 chip. While the under display fingerprint scanner will start shipping Q4 of this year and will work with all the non-SD chip.

Google has recently filed a patent for the new rear-facing touch panel on the upcoming or future Pixel devices. As per the images were shown, there is a rear-facing touch panel which can be recessed and accessed by the user in the same manner as we use the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner currently found on Pixel and Pixel XL.

The rear touchpad panel helps the user to d more with their devices and also none of the mobile phone with such features has been seen to date.Sony has implemented the similar feature earlier on PS-Vita which allows extra functionality and controls for various games.

As of now, there are no details whether this feature will be made available upcoming Pixel devices or not, but if it did then will be the first smartphone to come with such an extra features.Google already has similar kind of Gesture support on Pixel and Pixel XL fingerprint scanner. These gestures are very limited only to swipe up or down the notification panel or hide the notification panel.

As per fig no.3, the Google is planning to bring full rear-facing touchpad that surrounds the rear-facing fingerprint scanner. This larger rear-facing touchpad will allow the user to draw some gestures to launch apps or shortcuts. As per image, the recessed area is not been shown as a fingerprint sensor, but it looks similar to one found on Pixel and Pixel XL.There is the camera placed at the centre with speaker right side of it above the recessed area. There are the lot of uses of the rear-facing touchpad like zooming the images, scrolling the web pages, managing music etc.

Microsoft files patent for laptop theft security feature.

Microsoft has recently filed a patent for anti-theft features for laptops. In past, we have seen many anti-theft features which helped us to reduce phone theft. But, now we Microsoft has found a new way to secure your laptop from losing it.We all know that once the laptop is lost it is really hard to get it back as there is no anti-theft feature yet for Laptops, with this new patent there might be a ray of hope for the user to track the laptop and get it back.

Microsoft and Qualcomm are looking to launch the full version of Windows 10 running Cellular PC soon.It will be powered byARM-based CPU.These devices will support eSIM connectivity with faster data connectivity through X16 LTE modem. This upcoming laptop from Microsoft, as well as the new patent filed, will help the user to prevent laptop thefts even without the data subscription.

The new patent will allow the user to get back the lost laptop without putting the eSIM.This means that even if a thief removes the eSIM or disable the cellular data, the user will able to make use of function similar to the emergency call that will transmit a signal over the cellular network to the device to disable it.So Microsoft has to partner with all popular cellular service providers for this useful feature.Microsoft has already signed the deal with AT&T, T-Mobile and BT/EE.

Once the command is sent it will disable the laptop, there won’t be any further user intervention to complete the process. There is even a downside with this feature as even if the user disables the data the laptop will not stop tracking the device.

Microsoft will also launch some PCs with SD835 chip and will have always-on LTE mode with longer battery life. This will help Microsoft to bring the Windows OS compatible with ARM ecosystem.
