Last month, vivo released its X300 and X300 Pro smartphones in China. The standard X300 packed a 6,040 mAh battery, with the Pro model boasting a larger 6,510 mAh cell. Now, buzz is already building around the next generation: the vivo X500 series, likely to debut in October next year. It’s expected that Vivo will skip the X400 label, a move possibly influenced by tetraphobia, a cultural aversion to the number four in some Asian regions.

Leaked information from Digital Chat Station (via Weibo) suggests that the new X500 models will feature batteries exceeding 7,000 mAh. This marks a considerable leap in battery capacity compared to both the X300 and X300 Pro.

Meanwhile, there’s talk about the upcoming X300 Ultra. Unlike the rumoured X500, this Ultra variant apparently won’t reach the lofty 7,000 mAh mark—its battery is expected to fall somewhere between 6,000 mAh and 7,000 mAh.

Interestingly, Vivo isn’t dedicating all its battery innovation to its flagship series. The company is developing mid-range smartphones set for release next year, which could feature enormous 8,000 mAh and even 9,000 mAh batteries. This signals that, for its premium X lineup, vivo prioritises camera tech and other features over pushing battery sizes to the limit—likely because larger camera modules in high-end phones take up space that could otherwise house bigger batteries.
