The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, powering several newly launched premium smartphones. Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the company’s next-generation processor, will now be available in the company’s high-end lineup. Digital Chat Station has shared a detailed preview of the chip’s technical specifications and benchmark results ahead of its official release.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is based on TSMC’s advanced N3P process and features Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU architecture. A strong balance of performance and efficiency is achieved with two ultra cores clocked at 3.8GHz and six performance cores clocked at 3.32GHz.
It features the same Adreno 840 GPU as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but with slightly scaled-down performance and 1.2GHz frequency.
On AnTuTu, the chipset scored over 3.3 million points, and on Geekbench 6, it scored around 3,000 (single-core) and 10,000 (multi-core). It managed close to 100 frames per second on the Aztec 1440p benchmark, demonstrating impressive graphics power.
CPU performance is expected to be comparable to that of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while GPU performance is expected to be slightly lower. N3P fabrication is expected to improve thermal management and energy efficiency, so the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 should offer smoother performance and better stability despite its smaller size.
