Samsung recently released its Q3 financial results, offering a glimpse into what’s in store for its next flagship, the Galaxy S26 series, and the company’s plans for Galaxy devices.
Galaxy S26: Next-Gen AI, Custom Chips, and Performance Boosts
According to Daniel Araujo, VP of Samsung’s MX division, the forthcoming Galaxy S26 series is set to “redefine user experience” through next-generation, user-focused AI, a custom second-generation chipset, and improved performance, especially with new camera sensors. The chipset—referred to as the Application Processor (AP)—seems likely to debut as the Exynos 2600, which may be Samsung’s first to utilise 2nm manufacturing technology. There’s debate about whether this is the second generation, as some count the Galaxy Z Flip7’s Exynos 2500.
Qualcomm and Samsung are reportedly collaborating, with “for Galaxy” Snapdragon variants potentially produced in Samsung’s own foundries. This partnership could mean select markets get different chips. Current industry buzz says most S26 devices globally will feature the Exynos 2600, whereas regions like the US, China, and Japan may receive models powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. However, Araujo clarified that the final decision has not yet been made, as the selection process is still underway.
A New Era for Connectivity
Another notable update is the possible introduction of a new Exynos connectivity chip to handle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions—replacing Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7800, which was used in the S25 series. This shift echoes Apple’s recent move toward proprietary connectivity chips, a step aimed at greater control and potentially improved integration.
Samsung’s 2026 Vision: AI, Health & Foldables
Looking ahead to 2026, Samsung says it will double down on AI-powered features across its mobile lineup, enhance AI-based health tracking for smartwatches, and introduce new true wireless earbuds. Strengthening Samsung’s position in the competitive foldable smartphone market is also a top priority.
