Nothing confirmed yesterday that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is the preferred SoC for the next Nothing Phone (3).

Company co-founder Akis Evangelidis hailed the chip’s performance in comparison to the phone, noting an 88% increase in GPU speed, a 33% faster CPU, and an astounding 125% increase in NPU speed (2).

He also verified the software support information today. When asked why the company didn’t select a different Soc, Evangelidis responded that the new chip will pave the way for improved software support—”5 & 7″ as opposed to “4 & 4.”

Think of that as seven years of security patches and five years of significant OS updates.
That is a significant improvement compared to the Nothing Phone (2)’s three years of Android updates and four years of security patches.

In July, the Nothing Phone (3) will be available.
