Surge S1 SoC was Xiaomi’s first attempt at chipset development in 2017. XRING 01, Xiaomi’s next in-house chip, will be launched by the end of May. Xiaomi 15S Pro may be the first Xiaomi smartphone to use the XRING 01.

Multiple reports and leaks indicate that Xiaomi is returning to chipset development. A leak recently revealed the performance of the company’s next in-house SoC. Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s co-founder, has confirmed on Weibo that the brand will launch a custom smartphone chip called XRING 01. A Xiaomi executive has also announced that a new chip, XRING 01, will be announced later this month.

Jun said in his Weibo post that Xiaomi’s self-developed and designed mobile phone chip, the XRING 01, will launch by the end of May. The brand executive has not shared anything else about the hardware.

According to a recent leak from China, Xiaomi XRING 01 could feature a 1+3+4 CPU core setup. With a speed of 3.2 GHz, it could have one superfast core, three performance cores running at 2.5 GHz, and four efficient cores running at 2.0 GHz. We advise you to take the configuration leak with a pinch of salt since nothing is official yet.

Xiaomi has yet to confirm anything, but the 15S Pro could be the first phone from the brand to use the XRING 01 chipset. In the wake of the global launch of the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra, Xiaomi seems to be preparing for a mid-cycle refresh with the 15S.
