Here’s some terrible news for those eagerly anticipating the next game in the popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. Rockstar Games, the creator of GTA, has revealed the new official release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, and it is not 2025 as initially said.
The new release date is May 26, 2026. In its brief official press release on the subject, the company, predictably, apologizes for the fact that “this is later than you expected,” adds a note about how “the interest and excitement” surrounding the upcoming game is “truly humbling” for the entire team, and thanks you for your continued support and patience.
Since the company’s objective “has always been to try and exceed your expectations,” Rockstar wants you to know that the additional time is necessary to ” deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.” Although it says that more details will be released shortly, the fact remains that GTA VI was released around a year ago, and that’s about it.
