To directly compete with Apple’s new iPhone 17 series, Xiaomi has declared that it will forego the 16 lineup and instead introduce the 17 series.
The Xiaomi 17 series will arrive later this month, Xiaomi president Lu Weibing announced in a Weibo post. The Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max will be part of the range.
Lu Weibing, the CEO of Xiaomi’s smartphone division, stated that the company’s five-year premium plan represents a significant change in its digital lineup, with a generational upgrade throughout the whole lineup.
With a complete upgrade without raising the price, the Xiaomi 17 will be the most potent standard flagship ever. The two Xiaomi 17 Pro models will continue to push the limits of the ultra-high-end market by providing notable improvements in core technologies.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will be the company’s most potent flagship in the market, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro will be its most advanced small imaging flagship.
The forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC will be used for the first time by the Xiaomi 17 series. Additionally, Lu Weibing mentioned that the base model will come with some enhancements without a price rise. Notably, the Xiaomi 15 started at CNY 4,499 ($630) when it was introduced in China.
The 17 Pro Max is reportedly Xiaomi’s most powerful flagship, while the 17 Pro is touted to be the company’s most powerful small imaging flagship.
