Motorola has expanded its audio lineup at MWC 2026, unveiling two new true wireless earbuds under its Moto Things ecosystem: the Moto Buds 2 Plus and the Moto Buds 2. Both pairs are built around strong sound quality, active noise cancellation, and smart integrations, all wrapped in compact cases with stylish Pantone-inspired colors.
Moto Buds 2 Plus: Premium sound with Bose tuning
The Moto Buds 2 Plus are aimed at users who bounce between work, calls, and entertainment throughout the day. Motorola has partnered with Bose for the sound tuning, using “Sound by Bose” to offer a more balanced, detailed, and refined listening experience.
Each earbud houses 11mm dynamic drivers to deliver punchy, full-bodied bass, paired with Knowles balanced armature drivers to sharpen mids and highs. The combination is designed to keep everything from podcasts to movies sounding crisp and clear.
For those who care about audio fidelity, the Buds 2 Plus support Hi-Res Audio via the LHDC (Low-Latency High-Definition Audio Codec), allowing higher-quality wireless playback on compatible devices. Spatial Audio is also on board, adding width and depth to your soundstage for a more cinematic feel.
To help shut out the world, Motorola includes Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The system automatically reduces ambient noise, making it easier to concentrate in noisy offices, coffee shops, or on commutes.
AI Features/Connectivity:
Call quality is another focus: the Moto Buds 2 Plus use a total of six microphones along with Environmental Noise Cancellation to filter out background noise. A high signal-to-noise ratio helps keep your voice sounding clearer on the other end.
Inside the Moto Buds app, users can activate CrystalTalk AI, which adds an extra layer of AI-driven noise reduction. This feature is especially useful in loud environments, where it works to highlight your voice and suppress distractions.
In terms of battery life, the Moto Buds 2 Plus are rated for up to 9 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. With the charging case, total listening time extends up to around 40 hours before you need to plug in.
For convenience, the earbuds support Dual Connection, allowing them to stay connected to two devices at once. You can switch between, say, a laptop and a smartphone without disconnecting and reconnecting each time.
There’s also an Audio Share function that lets two pairs of Moto Buds 2 Plus hook up to a single phone, so two people can listen together. Wear Detection is included as well: remove an earbud and your audio pauses automatically.
The touch controls on the earbuds can be customised in the app. You can assign taps and holds for actions such as play/pause, skipping tracks, answering or ending calls, or summoning your voice assistant.
If you’re using a compatible Motorola phone, pressing and holding the earbuds can also trigger Moto AI features like Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This. On select devices, AI-powered translation features are supported too, turning the earbuds into a more versatile travel and productivity tool.
Moto Buds 2: Everyday listening with long battery
Positioned as the more accessible option, the Moto Buds 2 focus on everyday listening without skipping modern features.
Inside each earbud, Motorola combines 11mm dynamic drivers with 6mm micro planar magnetic drivers. This hybrid approach aims to deliver both impactful low-end and detailed high frequencies. As with the Plus model, the Moto Buds 2 support Hi-Res Audio via LHDC, along with Spatial Audio for a more immersive sound.
The Moto Buds 2 also feature Dynamic ANC, with noise reduction rated up to 55dB, helping cut down on ambient sounds like traffic or chatter. When you need to be aware of what’s going on around you, Transparency Mode lets outside sound back in at the touch of a control.
For calls, six microphones work together with Environmental Noise Cancellation to improve clarity so your voice comes through more cleanly.
Battery life is a strong point: the earbuds alone can last up to 11 hours on a single charge. With the charging case, total playback time jumps to as much as 48 hours. If you’re in a hurry, a quick 10-minute top-up can deliver up to 3 hours of listening.
Like their more premium sibling, the Moto Buds 2 support Dual Connection, so you can keep them paired to two devices simultaneously. Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 6.0, which aims to offer faster, more stable links with reduced latency.
Gamers get a dedicated Gaming Mode in the Moto Buds app, which helps reduce audio latency for a more in-sync experience during gameplay.
On compatible Motorola smartphones, users can again tap into Moto AI features such as Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This simply by holding the earbuds, mirroring the integration seen on the Buds 2 Plus.
