The first OnePlus Open launched back in 2023, and since then, things have been unusually quiet on the foldable front for OnePlus. There was no Open 2 in 2024, nothing in 2025 either, but according to a new rumor the company actually did intend to release a successor this year. That plan now seems to be off the table. The OnePlus Open 2 has reportedly been cancelled – again.

This is based on a new leak claiming that the Open 2 was pencilled in for a July launch and was meant to be OnePlus’ big release for the summer. That no longer appears to be happening.

The device had allegedly reached “advanced testing stages” before the plug was pulled. The model in question is said to be the global OnePlus Open 2. The same hardware will very likely still see the light of day in China (and possibly a few other markets) under a different name: the Oppo Find N6.

Specs:

There may be some differences, though. The Find N6 has long been rumoured to feature a 200MP main camera, while today’s leak about the OnePlus Open 2 points to a triple 50MP setup on the back instead.

According to the report, the Open 2 was going to feature a “sophisticated black faux leather finish” and a chassis design inspired by the Huawei Mate X7. Under the hood, it would have been powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

On the front, the cover display was expected to measure 6.6 inches and include a 32MP selfie camera. The inner folding screen was said to measure 8.12 inches, with a 20MP selfie shooter of its own. A 6,000 mAh battery was reportedly planned to support 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Both the outer and inner displays were rumoured to offer a 165Hz refresh rate.

In short, the OnePlus Open 2 sounded like a serious upgrade on paper, and its cancellation will likely disappoint fans of the original foldable.
