The Nothing Phone (3), Nothing’s upcoming smartphone, will be available soon. The company has hinted at a significant design update before the release, including the new Glyph Matrix, a small, expressive, and programmable micro-LED lighting system.
Design Milk’s Christian de Looper claims that the Glyph Matrix substitutes a dense cluster of micro-LEDs in the upper-right corner of the phone’s back for the larger segmented light strips in earlier models. This more compact yet adaptable LED array makes possible pixel-level animations, symbolic visuals, and reactive lighting that synchronises with sounds and user interactions.
- Increased Programmability: Unlike segmented strips, the micro-LED matrix allows dynamic animations and intricate visuals.
- Space Efficiency: The smaller lighting system makes better hardware design possible.
- Unique Identity: The small, round LED cluster gives a powerful, instantly identifiable appearance.
- Personalised Interaction: By combining personality and functionality, lighting effects can be linked to various apps and alerts.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset will be the official feature of the Nothing Phone (3), which may also come with a 16GB RAM option. Like its predecessors, it will be produced in India to satisfy local market demand.
The official launch event, which will be live-streamed on YouTube and will be held on July 1, 2025, at 6 PM BST (10:30 PM IST), should provide more information about the phone, such as its complete design and cost.
