Amazon has increased the price of its Prime Membership in India. It has almost been 16 months since Amazon Prime Membership subscription prices were raised last – in December 2021. There is some relief for existing Prime members, as they can continue to subscribe at their old prices, but there are some conditions. Annual membership plans are not included in the latest price hike.

Amazon Prime Membership fees in India now start at Rs 299, up from Rs 179 announced in December 2021. Amazon has raised Prime membership prices by Rs 120 per month. With respect to quarterly Prime prices, it will now cost Rs 599, up from Rs 459 – again, a steep increase of Rs 140.

The annual membership price remains at Rs 1,499, unchanged from last year. The Annual Prime Lite membership plan costs Rs 999.

Many Amazon Prime benefits go beyond shopping on the platform, such as Prime shipping. Members can also access Prime Video, Prime Music, and Prime deals and offers during sales. Among the other benefits are Prime Gaming, Prime Reading, and Amazon Family.

Existing Amazon Prime Members will not have to pay the increased price. The company says that existing Prime members will not have to pay an extra fee to continue enjoying Prime benefits. Moreover, the company offers existing members the opportunity to renew their Prime memberships at old rates.

Until the last renewal before January 15, 2024, you can continue auto-renewing in the same Prime plan at the old price of Rs 459 for 3 months (and Rs 179 for a month). Amazon does caution, however, that this offer applies only if the auto-payment does not decline. In the event that the auto-renewal fails or the customer revokes their consent, Prime must be renewed at the new rate.
